Drink your breakfast with this Bacon Breakfast Martini

Who the hell doesn’t love brunch, and a little day drinking to go with that? Don’t be weird… you know you wish you were day drinking right now.

As always, I’ve got your back. This martini, inspired by a Spruce Eats recipe, has a little bit of everything awesome, from the sweet tang of dry cider to a little flavor kick from homemade bacon-infused vodka (check out my piece on making your own vodka infusions). I made a few tweaks to additionally drop the sugar content, mostly. And it’s got very few ingredients, so you don’t even really need to be fully caffeinated to make this happen.

This recipe calls for a dash of maple syrup, which is an easy sugar bomb – so I did some taste testing for viable replacements. Luckily, there are a few maple syrup alternatives on the market now that don’t suck; for my drink, I used Walden Farms pancake syrup which IMO tastes exactly the same as maple syrup and has zero carbs. Another option would be something like Choczero maple syrup, but unfortunately this product is super high carb – I think to also achieve a similar consistency to traditional maple syrup.

Give this one a spin and let me know what you think!

BACON BREAKFAST MARTINI – 2 CARBS

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz bacon-infused vodka
  • 5 oz dry apple cider (I love our local Stem Ciders apple cider, which is only 5 carbs per can!)
  • Dash of sugar free maple syrup
  • Garnish with a fresh slice of bacon (cooled)

Directions:

  • Add all ingredients in a chilled martini glass and mix well (I don’t recommend using a cocktail shaker for this one because you’ll blow all the carbonation in the cider)
  • Add bacon slice and enjoy
